For the fully pruinosed males, abbotti and hintziare grouped together with machadoi due to the shape and color of the Pt, the light colored Ax veins and the yellow costa (most noticeable between the nodus and pterostigma) combination. Machadoi tend to show a pale area on the thorax and might also be confused with chrysostigma. It also displays a darkish shoulder and may be confused with guineense.
